Lessons From a Clear Sky

Sun behind the clouds

You are on a trajectory that is unique and full of questions and answers.

Sometimes an event—big or small— triggers our bodies to freeze or hide in darkness.

Just like a roly-poly that unfolds its tiny body after a sudden fright, you must learn to re-emerge, bringing the light back into view.

What brings light to your life? What causes your light to dim and how can you minimize your exposure? It’s up to you to ensure this human need is met. Bring it.

Today’s affirmation:

I add more light to my life every day

Lesson From A Caterpillar

Lesson From A Caterpillar

white and black caterpillar walking along a balcony above a lake

This summer, while vacationing just outside Maine’s Acadia National Park

I got to share the sunrise with a happy little caterpillar that was crossing our second-story railing. Any misstep or pause to look to where they had come from, would jeapardize their forward trajectory.

How different our species are. Risk of fumble and trepidation would send our human hearts a flutter to the point of ill defeat. But not the caterpillar with their firm methodic gait.

This small individual illustrates what happens when you find a way to stay grounded amidst risk—often by pure ambition and trust in your direction is all it takes to keep moving forward. If  you realize you’re going the wrong way STOP. Trust your intuition, turn in another direction, and go full force ahead.

Today’s affirmations:

Easy-does-it

I embrace my path.

Lesson From The Undercurrent

Lesson From The Undercurrent

Rocky mountains tower over a lake in the late summer afternoon

There was once a time when the majestic Glacier National Park was in our backyard. One day, several years ago, on the last official day of summer we gave into the crisp clear skies and still waters that teased a peaceful adventure on the lake.

After a few miles of smooth paddling and as the sun started to set, we turned our boats around to an adventure far from anticipation. The undercurrent intensified, waves grew,  and the perfect waters had become unkind. As I flailed backward more than ahead, my approach was failing fast—I was gassed.

On land I solve problems through systems and methods of motivation which is exactly what got me out of the rocky situation that day on the lake. I created a system to each stroke and became my own cheerleader. Mindset is a powerful force.

It’s Fall

It’s Fall

Header

The most colorful time of year is here.

Driving through New England’s fall theater is a treat beyond words—a symphony of screaming reds, deep oranges, and soft yellows which rise and fall over the course of a few weeks. If you’re lucky, you’ll catch peak which is like a gold medal for a leaf peeper.

Seasonal change has a strong unification quality in that it occurs regardless of community conflict, politics, or economic state.

Whether you live in a region that sees drastic cycles in the landscape each season or not, may you take a moment to reflect on nature’s unbiased beauty.

Today’s Affirmation:
